Golf and Management Seminars
The theme of my book, Learning from the Links: Mastering Management Using Lessons from Golf, is that you can improve your performance in both management and golf using systems thinking as your guide.
Together with John Cochrane, a CPGA professional, I offer a series of customized corporate seminars that focus on both golf and management, using the same systems framework. John is a fine teacher, who has just been voted Ontario PGA Teacher of the Year. He is also one of the longest hitters of the golf ball that I have ever seen! His teaching philosophy meshes very well with my systems approach.
All the seminars, which are of 1-3 days in length, have the same basic format: management in the morning, golf in the afternoon. The content varies according to the needs of the organization and the golfers. The essence of effective feedback is that it is timely and specific – related to the precise goals you are trying to reach. Our choice of feedback instruments, exercises and materials depends both on your current situation and what you, as members of the organization, as well as golfers, want to achieve.
The headings under this section give you a flavour of the approach used by both John Cochrane and myself.
